Live your Fiesta! Leave the cold and rain behind. Come to sunny Torrox. On offer are variety and unbeatable value for money. Then maybe you should be thinking of renting a village house where you can enjoy the views of the green hills of Andalucia and the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea - all from one terrace.

When the Moors occupied this region of Spain it was known as Al Andalus. Torrox Pueblo is a real Spanish village where tourism, although important, is not the only concern.

The village is located 44 kilometres from Malaga, on the eastern coast of the province lying on a hillock running down to the Mediterranean Sea and sheltered from the northern winds by the Sierra Tejeda and Almijara.

The annual average temperature is 18-28C, and there is no great temperature difference between summer and winter, moreover there can even be a subtropical touch. This is why this particular village proudly boasts the "best climate in Europe". No wonder then why Al-Mansour, a twelfth century ruler of Al Andalus, sent his daughter from Granada to this village to recuperate from poor health in its tranquillity and excellent climate.

This village retains a Moorish feel with narrow, winding streets of whitewashed houses. Its primitive nucleus is four kilometres from the sea shore with coastal districts mostly dedicated today to tourism: Torrox Costa, El Morche and Peñoncillo.

The Moors first arrived from North Africa in 710 AD and their Caliphate or Kingdom - Al Andalus - which lasted until they were finally expelled from Granada in 1492 AD, undoubtedly left the biggest impression on the Andalucia of today.

Fiesta
The Pueblo plays host to a number of festivities throughout the year. The national February Carnival is followed in May by the fiesta Cruces de Mayo and in June the Quema de Los Jâs takes place.
